Ping Island or Notchy for agent alerts

Ping Island calls its design attention-first: the notch lights up when an agent needs you, and you approve, deny or answer right there, with optional auto-approve for Claude Code and one click back to iTerm2, Ghostty, tmux or your IDE. It covers Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, Qwen, Kimi, OpenCode and more, and its PingIslandBridge carries remote SSH sessions. It is Apache-licensed and needs macOS 14. Notchy covers Claude Code approvals from macOS 13, inside a complete notch app.

Why use Notchy instead of Ping Island?

  • One release further back

Ping Island needs macOS 14.0. Notchy supports macOS 13 Ventura on Intel and Apple silicon.

  • Limits before they bite

Notchy tracks rate-limit windows and spend for 60+ AI providers and warns you as you approach a limit, so a long agent run doesn't stop halfway.

  • A whole island, not a single job

Face Unlock, Now Playing, clipboard history, a file shelf, timers and a real terminal share the notch with your agent alerts.

  • Where Ping Island wins

Agents running on remote machines over SSH, many more agents than Claude Code, answering an agent's questions, auto-approve rules, themes and custom sounds. It is open source under Apache-2.0.
