Notchy is designed to run entirely on your Mac. We never collect, store, or transmit personal information — no name, no email, no account, no hardware identifier, and nothing about what you do inside the app.

What does leave your Mac

Three anonymous signals, all keyed to a random ID generated on first launch that identifies an install rather than a person: a once-a-day “still active” ping (app version, macOS version, region setting), your star rating if you give one, and whether a support prompt was shown and tapped. That last pair exists so the prompt can be made rarer and better timed rather than guessed at. No amounts and no payment data — checkout happens entirely on the donation platform.

None of it carries clipboard contents, file names, media, calendar entries, or anything else the app touches on your Mac.

Local data only

Settings, clipboard history, and other preferences are stored locally on your device. Music and calendar integrations use system APIs and never send your data to our servers — because we have no servers for app data.

Updates

Automatic updates via Sparkle contact our update server only to check for new versions and download signed binaries. No personal identifiers are included in update requests.

Donations

Notchy is free. If you choose to donate, payments are handled entirely by our donation platform (Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee, depending on your country) — we never receive or store your payment details. We do not sell or share your information.
