Uninstall Notchy
Sorry to see you go. Removing Notchy takes under a minute and leaves nothing behind. If something isn't working, please tell us first at issues@notchy.dev or check the Help center — most issues are one settings toggle away.
Step-by-step removal
- 1Use the built-in uninstaller
Right-click the Notchy pill → Settings, then About → App → “Uninstall Notchy”. Notchy quits, removes its settings, permission records, Keychain items, cached data and the shell and agent hooks it added, removes the Charge Limit helper if you installed it, and moves itself to the Trash.
- 2Or uninstall with Homebrew
If you installed with Homebrew, run brew uninstall --zap notchy in Terminal. It removes the app and the same support files; only macOS permission records stay behind, and those are inert once the app is gone.
- 3Or remove it by hand
Right-click the pill → Quit Notchy (or press ⌃⌥⌘⎋ if it's frozen), then drag Notchy.app from Applications to the Trash. For a clean slate, also delete ~/Library/Application Support/Notchy, ~/Library/Preferences/dev.notchy.app.plist and ~/Library/Caches/dev.notchy.app.
- 4Check Login Items
Notchy opens at login by default. The built-in uninstaller removes that for you; after a manual removal, open System Settings → General → Login Items and remove Notchy if it is still listed.
Switching from another notch app?
Remove the old one cleanly before installing Notchy. Two notch apps running at once will overlap. Each guide below lists every file that app leaves behind.
