How do I set up Face Unlock in Notchy?

Go to Settings → Lock Screen and click “Set Up Face Unlock”. You'll allow the camera, do a short guided head scan, enter your Mac password, and allow Accessibility so Notchy can type it for you. Then press ⌃⌘Q to lock, touch a key and look at your Mac.

Step by step

  1. Settings → Lock Screen → “Set Up Face Unlock”.
  2. Allow camera access when asked.
  3. Follow the scan: look straight at the camera, then slowly turn your head as prompted. Bright, even light with only your face in view works best.
  4. Enter your Mac login password. It's checked with macOS and saved only in your Keychain.
  5. Allow Accessibility. Notchy may quit and reopen — setup picks up where it left off.
  6. Try it: press ⌃⌘Q to lock, wait a moment, touch a key and look at your Mac. Turn your head and blink when asked.

Good to know

Every unlock asks for a head turn and a blink, so a still photo isn't enough on its own.

Face Unlock works with the built-in camera, or a USB webcam when a laptop is closed in clamshell mode.
