Uninstall Mac Apps and Their Leftovers
Dragging an app to the Trash leaves its caches, preferences, containers and login agents behind. Notchy's Uninstall mode finds them, shows you every one, and moves the lot to the Trash together — so it's clean, and still undoable. Free.
See what it left behind
Pick an app and Notchy lists what macOS keeps for it in your Library: Application Support, caches, preferences, containers, application scripts, saved state, web data, cookies, logs and its launch agent — each labelled by kind.
Nothing is deleted
Everything goes to the Trash, support files first and the app last. If macOS refuses the app itself, every other item is still recoverable, and Put Back works as usual.
App Store apps too
Root-owned App Store and installer apps are handed to macOS the way Finder does it, which can ask for your administrator password instead of failing.
Careful by default
Only exact matches on the app's bundle identifier and name — no fuzzy guessing. Links into the system volume aren't treated as apps, and an app that's still running — or has a login helper running from inside it — is left alone until you quit it.

Uninstalling Apps on Mac — FAQ
Does dragging an app to the Trash uninstall it completely?
No. The app goes, but files it created in ~/Library — caches, preferences, containers, logs and sometimes a launch agent — stay. An uninstaller removes those too.
Where is the uninstaller in Notchy?
In the Packages tab, in its Uninstall mode, next to the app and Homebrew updates. New in Notchy 1.0.178.
Can I undo an uninstall?
Yes. Nothing is permanently deleted — open the Trash and use Put Back until you empty it.
Does Notchy find leftovers from apps I already deleted?
No. It looks up files for apps that are still installed. For orphaned files, Pearcleaner's orphan search is the tool.
Is it as thorough as AppCleaner or CleanMyMac?
It covers the standard per-user locations. Dedicated uninstallers also sweep system-wide folders and group containers; Notchy deliberately only removes exact, conventional matches.
Is it free?
Yes — Notchy has no trial, licence key, subscription or in-app purchase.
