Alerts & Calls

Alerts land where you're looking

A banner in the top-right corner is the one part of your screen your eyes aren't on. Notchy mirrors notifications, calls and messages onto the notch instead.

Notification mirror

macOS alerts get an island on the notch — centred, close to your gaze, and gone again without needing to be dismissed from the corner.

Call island

An incoming call takes over the island the way it does on an iPhone, rather than sliding in as one more rectangle at the edge of the display.

Message island

Messages surface the same way. And Notchy is careful about it — opening Notification Center doesn't replay yesterday's WhatsApp and Telegram banners at you.

Alongside everything else

Alerts share the island space with live activities, now playing and timers — one surface for everything asking for attention.

Notifications in the notch — FAQ

Can I move Mac notifications away from the top-right corner?

macOS doesn't let you reposition its own banners, but Notchy mirrors them onto the notch as islands — so the thing you need to see appears in the middle of the screen's top edge, where you're already looking, instead of the far corner.

Does it show incoming calls?

Yes. A call raises its own island on the notch, in the same place as everything else Notchy surfaces — much closer to how an iPhone handles it than a corner banner is.

What about messages from WhatsApp or Telegram?

Message notifications get an island too. And opening Notification Center no longer replays old WhatsApp and Telegram banners onto the notch — that was fixed in 1.0.79.

Does this replace Notification Center?

No — it's a better place to catch things as they arrive. Notification Center is still there for the full history, and Notchy doesn't interfere with it.

Will it double up with the system banner?

The notch island is the point of the feature; you can keep macOS's own banners on or turn them down in System Settings › Notifications, depending on how much you want to see the same alert twice.
