A Free QR Capture Alternative on the notch
QR Capture is a thorough QR reader: it scans codes on screen, on the clipboard, in files or through the camera (an iPhone or webcam), reads other 2D barcodes, scans a region with ⌘1, keeps every result in a local database and exports them to CSV. It's free, with unlimited camera scans as a $4.99 in-app purchase. Notchy does the on-screen part from a button on the notch.

Why use Notchy instead of QR Capture?
- One click, drag around the code
Press Scan QR Code in the panel header (or find it in the ⌃⌥K palette), drag around the code, and the result is copied. Long-press to read the whole display under the pointer.
- Links open, everything else copies
Web, mail, phone, FaceTime and SMS links get an Open button. Wi-Fi strings, vCards and other payloads are copied, not launched — a code on someone else's screen can't open an arbitrary app.
- Private by design
Apple's Vision framework decodes on your Mac and the temporary capture is deleted. Nothing is uploaded.
- Where QR Capture is better
Camera scanning, clipboard and file scanning, a scan history, CSV export and Shortcuts support. Notchy only reads what's on screen and keeps no history.
