Why does Notchy only show an “Update Required” window?

The developer has marked your version as too old to keep running — usually because of a serious bug — so Notchy asks you to update before it starts. Install the update from that window, or download the latest version from the download page. If your Mac is offline, Notchy starts normally instead of blocking you.
