Clipboard & AI

Fix the wording before you paste

Proofread, tighten, re-tone or summarise anything in your clipboard history — on-device with Apple Intelligence. Notchy adds no key, no account, no upload.

Six edits, one tap each

Proofread. Make professional. Make friendly. Make concise. Summarise. Bullet points. Hover a clipboard row and pick one.

Your clipboard never leaves

It runs on Apple's local foundation model. The text you paste around all day — tokens, addresses, half-written replies — is exactly the text that should never be sent to someone else's GPU.

Works on old copies too

Not just what you have selected right now. Anything in history is fair game, including text from an app you have already quit.

Honest about availability

Older macOS, an ineligible Mac or Apple Intelligence turned off — Notchy names the reason instead of failing silently, and nothing else about the clipboard changes.

AI clipboard — FAQ

What can it do to my text?

Six things, each one tap from a clipboard row: proofread, make professional, make friendly, make concise, summarise, and turn into bullet points. The result goes back on your clipboard, ready to paste over the original.

Does my clipboard get sent to a server?

No. The rewriting runs on Apple's on-device foundation model through Apple Intelligence. There is no API key to add, no subscription, and no request leaving your Mac — your clipboard is frequently the most sensitive text on the machine, so it stays there.

What do I need for it to work?

macOS 26 or later on an Apple-Intelligence-capable Mac, with Apple Intelligence switched on. Where it can't run, Notchy tells you exactly which of those is missing rather than showing a button that does nothing — and every other clipboard feature works regardless.

Is this the same as Apple's Writing Tools?

Same engine, different reach. Writing Tools works on text you have selected inside a text field. This works on your clipboard history — including something you copied an hour ago out of an app that has since closed.

Does it replace what I copied?

It puts the rewrite on the clipboard, and it doesn't spawn a duplicate history entry for the same thought. The original stays in your history, so nothing is lost if you prefer what you had.

Can I run it without opening the notch?

Yes. Each operation is also a ⌘K command palette action that works on whatever is on the clipboard right now, so you can copy, run “Make Concise”, and paste.
