AirDrop from the notch — FAQ
How do I AirDrop a file without opening Finder?
Drag it onto the Notchy shelf on the notch, then send it from there. The file is already staged where your cursor went, so there's no Finder window to open and no share menu to walk down.
Can I send to my iPhone this way?
Yes — it's the system AirDrop, so any device that normally appears as a target appears here: iPhone, iPad, another Mac, or someone nearby with AirDrop open.
How is the shelf better than dragging straight to a Finder window?
Because you drop once and decide later. The shelf holds files while you switch spaces, find the right window, or gather more of them — which is the whole reason drop shelves like Yoink and Dropover exist.
Is this a free Yoink or Dropover alternative?
