Zoom drowning out your music? Drag Zoom down, or mute it, and leave the system volume where it is. The Sound Mixer lists the apps making sound and gives each its own level.
A three-band equaliser per app
Shape a single app's sound without an EQ that colours everything your Mac plays. Levels and EQ are remembered per app.
Nothing in the path until you touch it
Apps left at 100% get no processing at all. Only an app you adjust is routed through an Apple Core Audio process tap, and if Notchy quits, macOS tears the tap down and every app plays at full level again.

Per-App Volume — FAQ
Can you control volume per app on a Mac?
macOS has no per-app volume setting. Notchy adds one: its Sound Mixer, introduced in version 1.0.158, turns any single app down or mutes it without changing the system volume.
What macOS version does the Sound Mixer need?
macOS 14.4 or later, because it relies on Core Audio process taps Apple added in that release. The rest of Notchy runs on macOS 13 Ventura and later.
Does it need a permission?
Yes — System Audio Recording, which macOS requires for any app that taps another app's audio. Notchy builds no audio chain until that permission is granted, so an adjusted app can never be silenced by a missing grant.
Is this a free SoundSource or eqMac alternative?
For per-app volume and a simple per-app EQ, yes, and free. SoundSource and eqMac Pro go further — audio unit effects and many-band equalisers — so if you need a studio-grade chain, they remain the stronger tools.
Will the volume keys still work?
Yes. The volume and mute keys control the system as usual, and since 1.0.158 a key Notchy cannot serve falls straight back to macOS instead of doing nothing.
