Notchy

Micro-App Feature

Run Apple Shortcuts from the notch

Your whole Shortcuts library as one-tap chips, right under the MacBook notch. Notchy runs any shortcut instantly with live feedback — no Shortcuts app, no menu digging. Free.

One tap, not five clicks

Automations only save time if triggering them is instant. Notchy turns each shortcut into a chip in a colorful grid — tap, done. No opening the Shortcuts app, no scrolling a menu bar list.

Live run feedback

A spinner shows while a shortcut executes and the chip flashes success or failure when it finishes — so you actually know the automation ran, something the stock menu bar widget never tells you.

Powered by macOS itself

Notchy drives Apple's official shortcuts command-line tool, so every shortcut runs exactly as Apple intended — permissions, prompts and all. Nothing reverse-engineered, nothing fragile.

Part of a full toolkit

The same notch also holds your clipboard history, file shelf, Pomodoro timer, music controls and more — one free app instead of five paid menu bar utilities.

Apple Shortcuts on the Notch — FAQ

How do I run an Apple Shortcut from the notch?

Open Notchy's Shortcuts tab and every shortcut from your library appears as a one-tap chip. Tap it and the shortcut runs immediately — a spinner shows while it executes, then a brief success or failure flash confirms the result.

Do I need to grant extra permissions?

No special setup. Notchy uses the official shortcuts command-line tool that ships with macOS, so the system brokers permissions — if a shortcut needs extra access, macOS prompts through the Shortcuts app exactly as it normally would.

Which shortcuts show up?

Everything in your Shortcuts library, in the same order the Shortcuts app reports them. Create or rename a shortcut and refresh the tab to see it instantly.

Is this faster than the menu bar Shortcuts widget?

Much. The macOS menu bar route takes a click and a scroll through a plain list. Notchy keeps your shortcuts one tap away in a colorful grid right under the notch — with live feedback the stock menu doesn't give you.
