How to Uninstall MediaMate

Are MediaMate's custom HUDs glitching out or causing system instability? Here is how to completely wipe the app and its cache from your Mac in under two minutes.

🛠️

MediaMate Glitch Warning

Third-party system HUD overlays like MediaMate often suffer from severe bugs, volume glitches, and lag when Apple releases macOS minor updates, leading to system hangs.
Get stable system controls: Download Notchy — engineered purely in native SwiftUI for rock-solid stability. It gives you fluid iOS-style Volume, Brightness, and Caffeine HUDs in the Dynamic Island for $0.

Step-by-step removal

1
Quit MediaMate

Before uninstalling, you must stop the app from running. Click the MediaMate icon in your menu bar and select 'Quit'. If it's unresponsive, open Activity Monitor, search for 'MediaMate', and click Force Quit.

2
Delete the App Binary

Open Finder and navigate to the 'Applications' folder. Drag 'MediaMate.app' to the Trash, then empty the Trash.

3
Wipe the Cache & Support Files

MediaMate leaves behind cached HUD settings. Open Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G, and paste `~/Library/Application Support/MediaMate`. Delete that entire folder.

4
Remove Login Items

Go to System Settings → General → Login Items. Ensure MediaMate is removed from the list so macOS doesn't search for the deleted app every time you boot.

Stop paying for buggy HUD overlays.

MediaMate charges you money just to change how your volume indicator looks. Worse, third-party HUD apps are notoriously buggy when Apple updates macOS.

Notchy gives you gorgeous iOS-style volume and brightness HUDs inside the Dynamic Island. Built with pure SwiftUI, it intercepts system media keys with zero lag.

And instead of charging you, Notchy is completely free.
