How do I move the tabs and header buttons beside the camera notch?

On a Mac with a notch, open Settings → Tabs → Header Layout and turn on “Tabs Beside the Notch”. Tabs sit to the left of the camera and header buttons to the right, leaving more room below for the selected tab. This option starts off.

Step by step

  1. Open Settings → Tabs → Header Layout.
  2. Turn on “Tabs Beside the Notch”.
  3. Open the panel on your MacBook display to see the layout.

Good to know

The layout needs a hardware notch and the Notch shape. If the controls need more space, the panel widens to fit and overflow tabs go into the More menu.
