Why does Notchy's Ask AI tab need an API key?
Ask AI talks to Claude using your own Anthropic API key, billed to your Anthropic account — Notchy doesn't resell access. A Claude Pro or Max subscription doesn't include API access, so you need a key from the Anthropic Console.
Good to know
The key is stored in your macOS Keychain and the conversation is kept in memory only. “Remove API Key” deletes it.
“That API key was not accepted” means the key is wrong or revoked; “This API key can't use Claude” points at your Anthropic account; “Too many requests” clears after a moment.
