How do I dictate text with Notchy, including with the Fn key?
Turn on “Dictation Shortcut” in Settings → Capture & Files, then record your own shortcut or switch on “Press Fn to Dictate”. Press it, speak, press again — Notchy types what you said into the app you're in. Recognition runs on your Mac and nothing is uploaded.
Good to know
Using Fn? Set System Settings → Keyboard → “Press Fn key to” to “Do Nothing”, or you'll also start Apple Dictation or the emoji picker.
It needs Microphone, Speech Recognition and Accessibility. Each session runs up to 2 minutes. If you switch apps mid-sentence, your words are copied so you can paste them.
“No offline speech model for this language” means macOS hasn't downloaded on-device dictation for your language yet — add it in System Settings → Keyboard → Dictation.
