Can I control Notchy or show my own messages from scripts?

Yes. Settings → About → Developer → “Local API” lets scripts drive Notchy over 127.0.0.1:9999, with a token on every request. For simple messages, turn on “Show in Notchy” (Settings → General → Automation) to use the Shortcuts action or notchy://show?title=Hello&message=Ready links.

Good to know

The API speaks newline-terminated JSON over TCP, not HTTP, for example: echo '{"command":"status","token":"…"}' | nc 127.0.0.1 9999. A message without a command shows an island with your title, subtitle and an optional progress value.

“Regenerate Token” invalidates the old one immediately. The API is off by default and only listens on your Mac.

Show in Notchy accepts a title up to 120 characters, a message up to 500 and a duration of 1–10 seconds, and can't run commands or open files.
