Why is the lock icon or Face Unlock animation too low, with a black strip across the top?

A fix prepared for 1.0.208 addresses invalid notch measurements that could create a black strip and push the lock icon or Face Unlock animation down. As of October 11, 2026, the latest published release is 1.0.207. Once 1.0.208 or later is available and installed, reset “Pill Vertical Offset” to 0 if you used it as a workaround, then check the alignment.

Step by step

  1. Check for Updates and install version 1.0.208 or later when available.
  2. Open Settings → Lock Screen → Pill. If “Adjust Lock Screen Position” is on, set “Pill Vertical Offset” to 0.
  3. Lock with ⌃⌘Q and check the island before changing the position again.

Good to know

“Pill Vertical Offset” moves the lock-screen island. “Vertical Position” in the widget section moves the widget cards; these are separate controls.

If alignment is still wrong, report your Notchy version, Mac model, macOS version, resolution and scaling, and the remaining offset. Include a screenshot with personal details obscured. The measurement correction does not establish that every lock-screen placement issue is resolved.
