Mac activity tracking — FAQ
What do the three rings track?
Move is how far your cursor physically travelled. Type is how many keys you pressed. Focus is how long input actually kept happening — credited in short slices while you're active, so idle time with the lid open doesn't count.
Does it record what I type?
No. It counts events — a key press is a number, never a character. The totals live in a local SQLite file on your Mac, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Is this the same as Screen Time?
No. Screen Time measures which apps were open. These rings measure whether you were actually working in them — a document left on screen through lunch closes no rings.
Can I change the goals?
Yes. Each ring has its own daily goal you can set to something you'll realistically close, which is the only way a streak means anything.
What are milestones?
Lifetime totals — cursor kilometres, keys pressed, days tracked, perfect-day streaks. Crossing one shows a brief island on the notch, once, and then it's recorded so a relaunch never re-congratulates you for the same one.
