How do I install Notchy on my Mac?
Download Notchy from notchy.dev/download, open the disk image, drag Notchy into your Applications folder, then open it from Applications. It appears in the notch (or as a floating pill on Macs without one) — there is no Dock icon.
Step by step
- Download
Notchy.dmgfrom the download page. - Open the disk image and drag Notchy onto the Applications folder.
- Eject the disk image, then open Notchy from Applications or Launchpad.
- Follow the short first-run tour. It explains each optional feature and asks for macOS permissions only when a feature needs one.
Good to know
Always run Notchy from Applications. A copy launched straight from the disk image or the Downloads folder can be refused permissions by macOS without ever showing a dialog — the Permissions page flags this as “macOS answered this one for you”.
Once Notchy is installed, it offers to eject the disk image and move Notchy.dmg to the Trash for you. If Finder made a second copy (“Keep Both”), Notchy shows an “Other Copies of Notchy Are Installed” alert so you can trash the extras.
Prefer the terminal? Notchy is also on Homebrew — see installing with Homebrew.
