Notchy isn't showing on my screen — what do I do?

Work down this list: make sure Notchy is running (open it from Applications), press ⌥Space in case it was hidden, and check Settings → Behavior → Visibility — “Show On”, “Hide in Full Screen”, “Invisible Until Hover” and “Hide if Menus Overlap” can all keep it out of sight.

Step by step

  1. Open Notchy from Applications. If it's already running, this does nothing harmful.
  2. Press ⌥Space (Hide Notchy) — it toggles visibility.
  3. Leave any full-screen app; Notchy hides there by default.
  4. Right-click where the pill should be. If a menu appears, open Settings → Behavior → Visibility and check “Show On”, “Invisible Until Hover” and “Hide if Menus Overlap”.
  5. Still nothing? Quit with ⌃⌥⌘⎋ and open Notchy again.

Good to know

Notchy checks every few seconds that its window survived display, login and Space changes and rebuilds it if not, so a missing pill after plugging in a monitor usually fixes itself.

If you're on 1.0.202, update — 1.0.203 fixed a launch crash in that version. See updating Notchy.
