Why does a purple audio-recording indicator appear while Notchy is running?

That's macOS flagging Notchy's system-audio tap, used by “Audio-Reactive Bars” and the Sound Mixer. Sound is processed on your Mac as it plays and is never recorded, stored or sent. Turn both off and the indicator goes away.

Good to know

Audio-Reactive Bars is off by default; when it's off, the visualizer moves to a gentle rhythm instead of following the music. It uses a little more battery when on.

Both features need macOS 14.4 or later.
