Notchy

Meeting Toolkit

Mute Your Mic Everywhere, at Once

Stop hunting each app's mute button. Notchy mutes the microphone itself — one toggle in the notch silences you in Zoom, Meet, Teams, and every other meeting app simultaneously. Free.

One switch, every app

Muting the input device via CoreAudio means there's exactly one mute state — no guessing whether Zoom is muted but Slack isn't. When Notchy says muted, you're muted everywhere.

Never breaks with updates

Tools that click each app's mute button break every time Zoom or Teams redesigns. Device-level mute doesn't care what the apps look like this week.

USB mic fallback

Mics without a mute property get their input volume zeroed instead — and your exact level comes back on unmute. It just works, whatever hardware you plug in.

The full meeting kit

Pair it with the camera mirror for a pre-call check and the Cuely teleprompter for staying on script — all free, all in the notch.

Mac Mic Mute — FAQ

How does Notchy mute my microphone?

Notchy mutes the default input device itself through CoreAudio — not an app's mute button. That silences you in every meeting app simultaneously: Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack huddles, Discord, all of them.

Why is device-level mute better than the Zoom mute button?

App mute buttons differ per app, move around in updates, and only mute that one app. Device-level mute is one switch, one state, everywhere — you always know whether you're live.

What about USB mics without a mute control?

Many USB mics don't expose a hardware mute property. Notchy detects that and zeroes the input volume instead, restoring your previous level exactly when you unmute.

Is it free?

Yes. Dedicated mute utilities like Mutify charge for this; Notchy's system-wide mic mute is free, along with the camera mirror, teleprompter, and every other meeting tool it ships.
